The Retina Difference is a free App which demonstrates the sharpness of the new iPhone 4 / iPod touch Retina display by showing the difference of optimized vs. unoptimized grahics on the iPhone 4 / 4th generation iPod touch.

A must-have for all iPhone 4 / new iPod touch owners to show off the outstanding display capabilities to your friends!

The nine examples in this App each show a splitscreen with an unoptimzed image (in standard iPhone resolution) on the left side of the screen and an optimized image (in iPhone 4 resolution, iPhone 4 / new iPod touch only) on the right side of the screen so you can tell the difference right away!

Description of the examples included in the App:

Lines/Pattern: Shows three test patterns of lines and dots, starting by 1 pixel, 2 pixel, 3 pixel width up to 4 pixel width

Gfx-Text/Gfx: Shows three pages of graphical bitmap text (text rendered on the background image) in different font sizes.

Photo: Shows three photographs for comparison.

See the amazing difference for yourself on your iPhone 4 / 4th generation iPod touch!

Also included is a color blindness test. This test can and will not replace any medical examination but is a good indicator to find out if you are color blind. If you fail any of the tests please consult your physician for a checkup of your eyes.

To all people who assert that the standard resolution half of the screen has been deliberately made to look bad: This is NOT the case!
If you cover the right side of the screen the left side will not look bad but compared to the 4x better resolution of the Retina display it indeed does look worse! And thats exactly what this App is about!
